Cuba's tourist card and electronic visa (eVisaCuba)

Anyone searching for 'Cuba tourist card' will find another name: tourist visa, which in many cases is requested online at the eVisaCuba portal. Each government explains what it requires of its citizens; here we summarize what Germany, Canada and the United Kingdom say, with the date we read each page.

Tourist card and electronic visa: what's changed

Many people know it as a 'tourist card'; the UK says the tourist visa 'is also known as a tourist card'. Germany tells its citizens that the visa is requested only online, at the eVisaCuba portal (page dated 21-10-2026). The UK says it can be requested through Cuba's embassy in the United Kingdom, a travel agent or the eVisaCuba website, and when approved you receive a ten-character code, linked to your passport, which you then write on the D'Viajeros form(opens in a new tab). Canada says it usually comes included in the tour package and that anyone arriving in transit through another country must first request the electronic visa and also receives a 10-character code. The address of the portal that all three governments provide is the eVisaCuba portal(opens in a new tab).

What they ask for depends on your nationality, where you're flying from and who you're traveling with. Trust your own government's page and your airline's page.

Passport, insurance and return ticket

Germany and the United Kingdom require the passport to have a minimum validity: six months from arrival according to both, and the UK adds three months after the planned departure. Canada requires it to be valid throughout your stay. Each country sets its own requirements on its page; check it.

Germany and Canada say that upon entry you must show proof of health insurance; Germany specifies that it must cover Cuba for your entire stay, that policies from US insurers and German public health insurance are not recognized, and that those unable to arrange it in their country must do so at Cuba's airports or ports upon arrival. Germany also warns that there is no guarantee that authorities will accept any policy. The UK says you must show a return or onward ticket; Canada says they may request it, and also proof of where you're staying.

And then, the D'Viajeros form

The visa is not the only requirement. Before arriving you also need to fill out the D'Viajeros form. You have the deadlines in D'Viajeros step by step: the official website says it opens 72 hours before, and some government pages cite slightly different deadlines; check the official one.

Before traveling to Havana

We've compiled the other things guests ask about before arriving: how to get to the house, money and currency exchange and internet in Cuba. If you already have dates, you can see the apartments and make a reservation.

Information gathered from the official pages of the governments of Germany, Canada and the United Kingdom, read on October 21, 2026 (Auswärtiges Amt(opens in a new tab), Government of Canada(opens in a new tab), GOV.UK(opens in a new tab)). This is informational content, not legal advice, and Amargura 62 does not process visas. Entry requirements are set by Cuba's authorities, your airline checks them before boarding and they may change: always check your government's official pages, including their travel warnings, before traveling.
